Tinghuset has been the site of a court since the mid 1700's.
In 1909 the existing building, designed by the State architect
Sigurd Westholm, was this impressive building, in the heart
of Varmland's countryside served as a functioning law court
until the 1970's.
After Tingshuset ceased functioning as a courtroom in the
1970's the building was owned privately for many years and
used as a residence. In the 1980's a local group of historians
and people interested conserving local history, formed an
association, bought the building and carefully restored it.
