Western Värmland is an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Häljebol sits half way along the most historic Viking
waterways ("Vikingaleden") between Säffle and
Arvika. These waterways offer over 80km of rivers and lakes
to explore, and to the south the river flow meets Lake Värnen.
Bathing
Visitors can enjoy a choice of locations for bathing, canoeing,
fishing and water-skiing. The river is just 1.5km from the
house, and the nearest beach is 2.5km away in the beautiful
sandy bay of Älvik. Just offshore are numerous small
islands that can be reached by boat. Many other small lakes
are within a few kilometers of the house.
Canoeing
Häljebol's central position on the Vikindalen means that
canoeists are able to explore long stretches of waterways.
Between Häljebol and Nysäter lies Gillberga nature
reserve that is the ideal place to visit to catch a glimpse
of many rare birds in a unique and protected habitat.
Glaskogen nature reserve, a rambling wilderness of woodland
and lakes, lies 15km north of Haljebol is also a popular area
for canoeists. To find out more about organized canoeing tours
